| Carly Pope, was born on August 28, 1980, in Vancouver. She trained in dance until she entered Lord Byng Secondary School (the equivalent of American high school), when she began studying drama in an advanced program. An agent saw her in a school stage production, which led to Carly's screen debut in an independent children's film, "Cowboys and Aliens," on location in distant Eastern Europe. She returned and enrolled at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver for a semester, but demand for the gifted young actress was already heating up.
Her fast-rising career took off when she won a starring role in the upcoming Showtime feature film, "A Cooler Climate," with Sally Field and Judy Davis directed by Susan Seidelman. She appeared in the upcoming Paramount release "Snow Day," a children's comedy with Pam Greer and Chevy Chase. Her television credits include leads in the ABC television movies "Our Guys," and "Purple Haze" (working title). "Popular" is her first series regular role. Carly returns to Vancouver often to spend time with her brothers, with whom she is close. She enjoys long walks, writes poetry and reads constantly. She plans to learn how to play the guitar. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
