James Spader was born on February 7, 1960 in Boston, Massachusettes. While both of his parents had careers in the teaching profession, James was more interested in pursuing a career in acting. When James Spader was 17 or 18, he moved to New York and enrolled in the Michael Chekhov Studio to study drama. Around that same time, James Spader got a tiny part in a little known film entitled, "Team Mates," in 1978. Although his role was miniscule, this lead to his second film, "Endless Love," in which James Spader had a much more substantial part. During the early 1980s James Spader appeared in a few TV-movies, and in 1985 James Spader had the starring role in the film, "Tuff Turf," where he plays a young rebellious high school student. During the latter part of the 1980s James Spader had minor roles in such films as Pretty in Pink , "Less Than Zero," and "Mannequin," constantly being typecast as a stuck up yuppie. In 1987 Spader married Victoria Kheel, whom he'd known since 1979. They have two children together, Sebastian and Elijah.

In 1989, James Spader won the best actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for his portrayal of "Graham," in the film Sex, Lies, and Videotape. This really was a turning point for James Spader in terms of getting the proper recognition James Spader deserved for his work. The year that followed brought him a steamy role in the film, "White Palace," co-starring Susan Sarandon.

For the next few years James Spader appeared in various films including,"True Colors," "Bad Influence," "Storyville," and a cameo in "Bob Roberts." In 1994 Spader appeared in the successful science fiction film, Stargate , along with Kurt Russell. This brought additional recognition for the remarkable actor, because of his terrific portrayal of "Dr.Daniel Jackson," a young egyptologist/linguist. In the years that followed since "Stargate," Spader has continued to show off his talents in films like, "Crash," "Two Days in the Valley," and "Critical Care." James Spader most recently appeared in an episode of "Seinfeld," delivering a hilarious performance. James Spader is truly something very special, and is expected to give us nothing but the best from any of his future projects.
