Laurie holds dual citizenship in both the United States and Canada. Daughter of Hollywood character actor Larry Holden and stage and film actress Adrianne Ellis, Laurie received her first film role when she was a young child. As a teenager, Laurie won The Look of the Year modeling contest in Toronto. However, she set her sights on acting and attended UCLA to pursue this goal and took acting classes from the late Robert Reed of Brady Bunch fame. She also won the prestigious Natalie Wood Acting award.
