 Synopsis
This movie focuses on one very tumultuous day for Max, as he figures out that the fare (Cruise) he's been driving around all day is a contract killer, committing a series of hits. Now, it's up to him to somehow stop the killer from executing the last witness... as well as himself. With the FBI on trail Max and Vincent's survival become dependent on each other.

Grade : B -
Boston Globe - For a while, though, the movie cooks. ''Collateral'' opens with a deliciously well-written flirtation between a cabbie named Max (Jamie Foxx) and a fare named Annie (Jada Pinkett Smith), a pretty, stressed-out lawyer who marvels at Max's ability to bring out her playful side. You wonder briefly if the movie's going to be about something. But then Annie gets out and Vincent (Cruise) gets in.   more

Grade : A -
Chicago Sun-Times - Cruise and the filmmakers bring a great deal more to his character than we expect in a thriller. What he reveals about Vincent, deliberately and unintentionally, leads up to a final line that is worthy of one of those nihilistic French crime movies from the 1950s. Jamie Foxx's work is a revelation. I've thought of him in terms of comedy (''Booty Call,'' ''Breakin' all the Rules''), but here he steps into a dramatic lead and is always convincing and involving.   more

Grade : B
Chicago Tribune - Michael Mann's ''Collateral''--an expertly-made thriller about an L.A. night ride with an immaculate hitman (Tom Cruise) and a smart, funky cab driver (Jamie Foxx) --is really two movies: a taut, terrific, realistic crime drama, and, by the end, an over-the top, high-tech extravaganza which tries to out-Woo John Woo and turn Cruise into another Terminator.   more
