 Critic Reviews

Grade : B
Chicago Sun-Times : The Movie, captures the elusive charm of the most egotistical character on the funny pages, and drops him into a story that allows him to bask in his character flaws.   more

Grade : C
Chicago Tribune : Garfield looks good in close-ups, given the software that now manages hair movement, but too often Garfield doesn't seem to have much weight on screen or impact on his surroundings, especially when he's interacting with his flesh-and-blood (or fur-and-blood) co-stars.   more

Grade : D+
filmcritic.com : Like a spinning saucer of skim milk, Garfield has combustible energy but lacks creativity. It’s marginally better than The Cat in the Hat, though that’s like saying suffocation is mildly more amusing than drowning.    more

Grade : D
New York Times : Jon (Breckin Meyer), the hapless, dateless owner, now has a love interest, a kindly veterinarian named Liz, played by Jennifer Love Hewitt in a succession of uncomfortable suits. It is she who unleashes Odie on Garfield, who must overcome his laziness and egoism..   more
