 Critic Reviews

Grade : A
Film Journal International - Sounds like Jack Kerouac with a Latin beat—but, in fact, this film aims to capture the dawning in Che of a passion for social justice. Salles bypasses the erotic pairing central to most cinema, to celebrate a man's love for his sorrowing countrymen.   more

Grade : B+
Film Threat - “The Motorcycle Diaries” begins as a buddy/road movie in which Ernesto and Alberto are looking for chicks, fun and adventure before they must grow up and have a more serious life. As is said in the film itself, it’s about “two lives running parallel for a while.”    more

Grade : B
filmcritic.com - Adapted from both Guevara’s The Motorcycle Diaries and Granado’s Traveling with Che Guevara by Jose Rivera, Salles’ episodic film follows the intrepid travelers as they leave family and friends behind in Buenos Aires and head for the rural countryside riding their beat-up metallic steed dubbed, ironically, “The Mighty One.”    more

Grade : B
Hollywood Reporter - Ultimately, this cinematic journey is a trek of personal transformation, and one need not have had a poster of Che in the dorm to appreciate this nonpolitical saga. ''Motorcycle'' is the coming-of-maturity tale of two young, idealistic men who wish to traverse South America before they hit 30.    more
