 Critic Reviews

Grade : C +
Boston Globe - Poor England has, first, had to suffer the indignity of having no local win in its tennis championship in 68 years, with Tim Henman coming close to a final on a few recent occasions, and, now, it has to survive a movie that beats the country's cruel reality into a cheesy romantic pastry.   more

Grade : B
Chicago Sun-Times - ''Wimbledon'' is a well-behaved movie about nice people who have good things happen to them. That's kind of startling, in a world where movie characters, especially in sports movies, occupy the edge of human experience. What a surprise to hear conversation instead of dialogue, and to realize that the villain may actually be right some of the time.   more

Grade : C +
Chicago Tribune - It's a harmless enough movie, I suppose, and quite a good-looking one; Bettany and Dunst are an attractive enough couple, even if Lizzie has been written as a selfish little snip and he as a whining man-child.   more
